Party for the patrons

Carolyn Pope

The Far East infiltrated Ford Park last week at the International Dance Festival. The first night of the International Evenings of Dance and the annual Patron’s Thank You party, hosted by the Vail Valley Foundation, is always a celebratory event, and usually one of the high points of the summer. The guests always excitedly anticipate the creative strokes of Social Events Manager Arte Davies, who plans and decorates for the event, and this year left no one disappointed.A 30-foot long Chinese dragon greeted the guests, and the tent glittered in a crimson glow by the light of Chinese lamps dangling throughout the area. Whirled Peas catering served Asian influenced food, followed by dancing through the evening. The performances were inspired, capping off an excellent run by Artistic Director Katharine Kersten, who will be leaving the organization this year. For more information regarding the events of the Vail Valley Foundation or the International Dance Festival, visit its Web site at THE SOCIAL RADAR: The Vail Valley Foundation is hosting their annual “Repeat Performance” designer rummage sale in September. They are still looking for high end clothing and decorator items! Please call 970-949-1999 to donate.Vail, Colorado
