Party poopers at Denver Democratic convention?
DENVER, Colorado ” The host committee for the Democratic National Committee may cut back to a single party for delegates, instead of the two dozen originally planned, to save money amid sluggish fundraising.
Host committee spokesman Chris Lopez told The Denver Post on Wednesday the plan isn’t final.
The committee is responsible for raising $40.6 million but reported last month it had just $25 million in cash.
The committee has notified some venues they won’t be needed for the pre-convention parties on Aug. 24, the Sunday before the convention starts.
The consolidated party would be at the Colorado Convention Center. The convention itself will be at the Pepsi Center.
The 56 delegations will include about 6,000 delegates, alternates and guests.
