Pastor preaching Thanksgiving rebuild

J.K. Perry

EAGLE – Thanksgiving truly is a time of giving for one local pastor traveling to Gulfport, Miss. this November. Pastor Winsor Stough of Eagle Valley Community Church will journey to the area with volunteers and materials to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

“We’re going down there to share some love and compassion with the folks by rebuilding some of the homes,” Stough said.So far, Stough has gathered about a dozen volunteers but is looking for a total of 60 laborers and experienced construction workers. He plans to take a convoy of vehicles to Gulfport Nov. 16 and return Nov. 27.”I’m doing this from a Christian motivation, but I’m inviting anyone to come along,” Stough said. The pastor is asking organizations and individuals to donate drywall, wiring, roof shingles, construction equipment and other items.Stough teamed with PRC Compassion, a Gulf region group of pastors and churches setting up building projects for hurrincane relief. Visit the group’s site at http://www.prccompassion.org.The Eagle County group won’t be able to help everybody, but every little bit helps, Stough said. He said the two goals are to address needs not covered by insurance and complete a significant amount of projects during the Thanksgiving week. The group will also hold a Thanksgiving dinner for all involved volunteers.”This is a real hands-on way for people to help,” Stough said. “This is a way for people to really use their own lives to help out and I really think it could be a life-changing experience.”Staff Writer J.K.
