BEAVER CREEK — Paderewski Fine Art welcomes artist Patrick Matthews to the gallery for a residency today through Saturday, March 12. Witness this contemporary landscape painter create local and worldwide landscapes consisting of distinct texture and bold color, a precursor to the brighter spring days just ahead.
Matthews is a Little Rock, Arkansas, native who started his career as an independent architect and, although very successful, discovered a passion for neo-impressionistic painting. As an accomplished artist for more than 10 years, he has earned a spot as one of Paderewski bestsellers and most popular artists.
Influenced by passions
Matthews is an avid camper, hunter and fisherman and often immerses himself in nature’s elements with paintbrush in hand to capture unique perspectives and detailed beauty.
“Painting outdoors, surrounded by nature, in all seasons, I am energized,” Matthews said. “I have a sense of inner strength, joy and peace I feel nowhere else. My very vision changes and paintings appear on my canvases as though put there by some mysterious force.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
“The best I’m able to do by way of describing the experience is to say that the energy that flows out of me when I paint seems to come from difference sources other than my body. Each of these outside sources — the weather, the smell of the forest, the sounds of water and the wildlife, the wind, the temperature, the stillness, the solitude — the color and texture of the oil paint seems to create its own energy. And the force of these combined energies is greater than the parts.”
Paderewski Fine Art is located in Beaver Creek on the Plaza level of the Hyatt, across from the ice rink. Visit http://www.paderewskifineart.com or call 970-949-6036 to learn more.
