Patriotic tasting event in Vail

VAIL, Colorado – Continue your weekend celebration Sunday from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Marketplace on Meadow Drive Wine Shop in Vail, Colorado. The shop will host a tasting of wine and beer from California.”I chose Highflyer Wines from California for this week’s wine tasting event,” said Kristen Fannin, sommelier for the Wine Shop at Marketplace on Meadow Drive. “These are wines that people would not normally choose, but are very unique and really fun to enjoy.”The featured white wine is the 2007 Highflyer Viognier from Clements Hills & Lodi, Calif. The red is the 2006 Highflyer “Aviator Red,” a blend of syrah, zinfandel and grenache, from Calif. A representative from the winery will be available during the event as well.If a frosty cold one is more your style, the beer “Damnation,” a strong golden ale brewed by Russian River Brewing Company in Sonoma, Calif. will also be sampled. The wine tasting will take place during Vail’s Farmers’ Market.The Wine Shop at Marketplace on Meadow Drive features a wide selection of wines ranging from daily table varieties to collector vintages. The Wine Shop also provides spirits and a wide array of international and domestic beers.The wine tasting is free and reservations are not required. Parking is located at the Vail Transportation Center, where the parking is free. Marketplace on Meadow Drive is located in Vail Village, at the corner of Meadow Drive and Willow Bridge Road, just west of the International Bridge.
