Philadelphia Orchestra to join Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival as resident orchestra
VAIL – The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and The Philadelphia Orchestra announce a three-year agreement for a residency in Vail starting in 2007. Under the baton of its Music Director Christoph Eschenbach, The Philadelphia Orchestra will give six performances in Vail in 2007 from July 7-14. This residency will mark Philadelphia’s debut performance in Vail and first return to Colorado in 20 years.
The Philadelphia Orchestra has performed in Colorado 10 times with the last performance held in Denver in 1986. During its 10 days in Vail, the orchestra will offer six different programs at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. The summer of 2007 marks the 20th anniversary for the Vail Valley Music Festival. With three resident orchestras: the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and The Philadelphia Orchestra-along with more than 50 soloists, ensembles and chamber musicians throughout the summer, it will be a jubilant celebration. The residency is a three year agreement, bringing the Philadelphia Orchestra back to Vail in the summers of 2008 and 2009.”In celebrating its anniversary season in the summer of 2007, the Bravo! Festival is delighted and honored to welcome the world renowned Philadelphia Orchestra for its debut appearance in Vail,” said Executive Director John Giovando.
