AVON, Colorado ” Avon’s Town council will be filled with familier faces ” incumbents Amy Phillips and Kristi Ferraro were reelected Tuesday, and former mayor Buz Reynolds will return to the council.

Phillips received the most votes, followed closely by Reynolds and Ferraro. Just a handful of votes separated the winners. Shari Peach, a newcomer, and Karri Willemssen, who ran two years ago, each trailed Ferraro by a much larger margin.

Phillips and Ferraro were both elected to the council four years ago and have helped shape the planned redevelopment of downtown Avon and the construction of Main Street. Phillips sells advertising for Vail-Beaver Creek Magazine, and Ferraro is a business and real estate lawyer.

“I feel very honored that Avon voters are willing to put their trust in me again,” Ferraro said. “We’re going to have to roll up our sleeves and keep working. It will be challenging.”

Reynolds, a building contractor, served on Avon’s Planning and Zoning Commission for 13 years, then served eight years on the town council ” two of those as mayor. Reynolds said this time around he did a lot of “personal” campaigning without a paper trail.

“I went door to door ” I didn’t go the political pollution route. I’m a little burnt out on it,” Reynolds said. “I just like going to people I haven’t met before and seeing what they like and don’t like about their communities.”
