Photo: Dorrance Dance brings tap dancing to Vail International Dance Festival
Artistic director and tap dance ambassador Michelle Dorrance and her company present an evening of tap dance, live music, original choreography and sonic creation on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail. Dorrance Dance aims to honor tap dance’s history in a new and dynamically compelling context, not by stripping the form of its tradition, but by pushing it: rhythmically, aesthetically and conceptually, incorporating street, club and experimental dance forms. The performance is part of the Vail International Dance Festival. Tickets are Tickets are $60 to $100 for pavilion seats. Lawn seating is available for $20, and children 12 and younger are free on the lawn. For a full festival schedule, including Master Classes and fringe events, or to purchase tickets, visit vaildance.org or call 888-920-ARTS (2787).
