Physicist to speak to in Edwards
EDWARDS – Retired physicist John McConnell, director of the Western Math & Science Center in Grand Junction, will speak in Edwards March 9. The talk, entitled “The Value of Mentorship,” is from 6:30 to 8 :30 p.m. at the Eagle County Health Services Building. Eagle County’s Gifted Education Team and the Vail Symposium have created a “academic mentor bank” to match students with experts and professionals in various fields. One student, Ryan Patterson, who started in McConnell’s workshop at age 8, competed in local and state science fairs, ultimately winning an international science competition.
