BEAVER CREEK ” Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will perform in concert tonight at the Vilar Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m. Along with the Rossetti String Quartet, Thibaudet will perform a program that includes works by Moszkowski, Wolf and Brahms.

The French-born pianist started playing the piano at age 5; by age 15 he was performing with orchestras, had won numerous piano competitions and graduated from the conservatory in Lyons. Today the former child prodigy is in the prime of his career, with more than 30 recordings to his name and hundreds of highly acclaimed concert appearances.

“We are delighted and honored to have Jean-Yves for this special chamber music evening,” said Eugenia Zukerman, Bravo!’s artistic director. “His gifts at the keyboard are unparalleled and not to be missed.”

Violinists Nina Bodnar and Henry Gronnier will be joining Jean-Yves Thibuadet on Moszkowski’s Suite in G Minor for Two Violins and Piano. The virtuosity of each musician will be shown during this graceful and impassioned piece. Next on the program will be Wolf’s swift and charming Italian Serenade for string quartet.

The final work will be Brahms Quintet in F Minor for Piano and Strings. Brahms’ quintet went through many transformations, however the final version showcased in this performance is highly acclaimed. According to violinist Joseph Joachim, Brahms’ friend and mentor, “The Quintet is beautiful beyond words … a masterpiece of chamber music the likes of which we have not seen since the year 1828.”
