Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

MINTURN, Colorado – The U.S. Forest Service and Beaver Creek Mountain Ski Area are preparing to conduct controlled slash-pile burning on Beaver Creek Mountain over the next several weeks in order to prepare the mountain for the winter operating season.

If weather conditions allow, the burning may begin Monday and Tuesday. Planned burn areas include: the Hay Meadow on the lower part of the mountain, Horseshoe Park above the NASTAR start and Centennial near the World Cup Storage facility below Spruce Saddle. The piles are comprised of logging debris leftover from hazard tree mitigation projects on the mountain. –

The burn is being conducted under permit from Eagle County. The U.S. Forest Service and Beaver Creek Mountain staff will conduct all operations and monitor the burn closely in cooperation with the Eagle River Fire Protection District. Any individuals with health concerns or desiring additional information please contact Don Dressler with the U.S. Forest Service at 970-827-5157.
