Plane Fun air show returns to Eagle airport Saturday
Look! Up in the sky … and on the ground.The Plane Fun Air Show Festival will return to the Eagle County Regional Airport from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.
The Gypsum Fire Department and local vendors will host a breakfast starting at 9 a.m. Airplane and helicopter rides will be offered from 9 a.m.-noon and from 2:30 p.m.-6 p.m. The static display will feature a 707 refueler, remote control static and an L39 Russian fighter.The food and beer fest will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A sky diving and exhibition team will perform at 11:30 a.m. and the air show starts at noon, featuring biplanes, T-6, T-34, MiG 15, MiG 17 a Nag Chang (Chinese Fighter Trainer), two Super Stallion helicopters, National Guard helicopters, and A-10 warthogs. The grand finale at 1:30 p.m. will feature the OK3 Air Aerobatics team.The local country Western band Derringer will perform at 2 p.m.
A raffle will raise funds for an aviation scholarship. First prize is a plane ride to Telluride for four people; second prize is a helicopter ride for four people; and third prize is $500 in cash. Raffle tickets are available at Alpine Bank.On Friday, visitors to the airport can get plane rides from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and helicopter rides from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Call Robin or Mary Ann at 524-7700 for more information about the rides.Admission to the air show is $25 for a family (five or more people); $5 for adults ages 13 and up; $3 for seniors ages 65 and up; and $3 for children ages 3 to 12.
