Plane runs off side of runway at Eagle County airport

EAGLE — A private aircraft ran off the side of the runway after landing at the Eagle County Regional Airport at approximately 10:40 a.m. Sunday.
The runway was closed for about 45 minutes. The pilot was the only person on board and was uninjured.
The replica Spitfire aircraft sustained damage to the nose cone and propeller. Weather at the time of the crash was overcast and calm.
Eagle County Regional Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, Gypsum Fire Protection District, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and Eagle County Paramedic Services responded to the incident.
Cause to be determined
The cause of the crash will be determined following an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
