(AP) – Police arrested a suspect Friday in a hit-and-run collision that killed an 8-year-old boy in a go-cart in this northwest Denver suburb.Sean Christopher Daniels, 31, of Westminster was held for investigation of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.Police said Daniels was believed to be driving a 1995 Chevrolet truck that struck a go-cart carrying Quinton Von Duyke and his brother, 10-year-old Kaeden Von Duyke, on a Westminster street on June 23.Quinton, a passenger in the go-cart, was killed and Kaeden, who was driving, was injured, police said.Neither brother was wearing a helmet and only Quinton was wearing a seat belt, police said. Kaeden was thrown from the cart, police said.The boys were staying with their grandparents at the time while their parents were on vacation, police said.Police said an officer located the suspect truck in Westminster Thursday night and Daniels was arrested early Friday at a campground at Steamboat Lake State Park by Routt County sheriff’s deputies and park rangers.Investigators have not said how they knew Daniels was at the park, about 125 miles northwest of Westminster.Daniels was arrested in Lafayette in 2000 for investigation of a hit-and-run accident, reckless driving and not having proof of insurance, all misdemeanors. The outcome of those charges was not immediately known.The boys’ family released a statement Friday thanking Westminster police and the community.”We will never be able to express how much we appreciate everything that has been done for our boy. We ask that you keep us in your prayers as we allow justice to take its course,” the family said.
