Police: Avon man stabbed by roommate

AVON – An Avon man suffered multiple knife wounds late Thursday after his roommate allegedly cut him outside their Liftview Condominiums residence, police reported.Saul Martinez, 20, was slashed seven times including one cut on the face, Avon police Sgt. Stephen Hodges said. He also suffered a broken thumb before being treated for his wounds at Vail Valley Medical Center and then released, Hodges said.Roger Villeda, 26, is accused of knifing Martinez and faces charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon. Hodges said police did not find a knife when they arrested Villeda.According to police:• The two were drinking in a parked car outside Martinez’s mother’s residence at Lake Creek Village in Edwards when they got into a fight.• Thereafter, Martinez returned home alone to his wife and child. Villeda followed shortly after and knocked on the door, but Martinez said would not let him in because he was drunk and being loud.• Martinez entered the hallway and the two fought and went to the ground. Martinez noticed blood coming from his body, then saw Villeda had a knife.Villeda was being held Friday night on $15,000 bond at the Eagle County jail. He appears in court April 11.Staff Writer J.K.
