EAGLE ” Three teenage boys stole three movies and three bottles of beer from a City Market and shoved a store clerk, prompting police to chase them on-foot Tuesday afternoon, said Chief Rodger McLaughlin of the Eagle Police Department.

A store clerk confronted them around 5 p.m. about the thefts and one of the boys pushed her, McLaughlin said.

Several squad cars responded to the downtown Eagle chase ” three from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and three from the Eagle Police Department, McLaughlin said.

A 16-year-old boy turned himself in to police and the other two boys, 15 and 17, were found hiding in an alley west of Fifth and Broadway about half an hour later, McLaughlin said.

The store clerk was not injured, he said.

An Eagle police officer was injured while running after the teenagers, but was treated and released by medics on the scene, McLaughlin said.

The boys were arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor theft and other charges could follow, he said. Police will release the boys to a parent or guardian, he said.
