BRECKENRIDGE, Colorado ” Breckenridge police are continuing to search for any leads in the disappearance of Alphonse “Michael” Barbiere and are currently looking to identify two females that were seen with him last Thursday night.
Barbiere was last seen early Friday morning walking north on Main Street from Cecilia’s Bar. A massive search and rescue operation over the weekend found no clues regarding his whereabouts and authorities suspended the search on Sunday night.
Police are looking to identify anyone that was seen talking to Barbiere at Cecilia’s Bar on Thursday night and have obtained a photo of two females who may have more information on the series of events that led to Barbiere leaving the bar alone.
“We have a picture of a blonde girl Mike was dancing with for the last hour he was at the bar,” said close family friend Bob Nixon. “We are trying to track her down and see if she can help us put the pieces together.”
On Monday night the Barbiere family announced they were offering a $10,000 reward through Summit County Crime Stoppers for information leading to the discovery of their missing son.
Nixon, along with Barbiere’s brother and brother-in-law, have remained in Breckenridge this week to continue tracking down any potential clues to shine more light on Barbiere’s disappearance.
“We would like to see a bigger effort made by police,” said Nixon. “We think there is more to this than meets the eye because Mike is a very smart kid and now our thought is that there was some sort of foul play.”
At this time, Breckenridge police say they have no reason to expect foul play.
The Barbiere family is doing everything they can to spread the word of Michael’s disappearance and have even set up a Facebook page dedicated to obtaining more leads.
Friends and family in Barbiere’s hometown of Wyckoff, NJ. will gather for a candlelight vigil this Friday night, marking one week since he was last seen in Breckenridge.
