Police kill woman after robbery report
WOODLAND PARK ” Police shot and killed a woman in a pharmacy over the weekend after a report of an armed robbery there, authorities said.
Prosecutors identified the woman as Jennifer Fries, 40, of Florissant, The Gazette of Colorado Springs reported Monday. It was not immediately clear whether police suspect Fries was the person trying to rob the store.
Police Chief Bob Larson declined to release any details, including the circumstances of the shooting or how many shots were fired.
Larson said an employee of the City Market Pharmacy called 911 on Sunday morning and another employee triggered a robbery alarm. Two officers arrived about seven minutes later, he said.
“I don’t know who she is; I don’t know why she picked this street,” Larson said.
A few customers were in the pharmacy at the time, officials said.
Both officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the district attorney’s office were investigating.
