AVON, Colorado – A taxi driver claims he was assaulted on Halloween by a man wearing a cape and a woman dressed like Marie Antoinette.

Avon police responded to the call at the Liftview apartments around 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 1, police reports said.

There they found the cab driver, who had a very swollen left eye, and a second victim dressed like Elvis in a white jumpsuit, the reports said.

The cab driver said a dispute over the fare led to violence, police said.

Upset about the price, the man in the cape punched the cab driver in the face repeatedly and tried to spit on him, the driver told police.

Seeing the incident as he walked by, the Elvis impersonator said he opened the car door and tried to pull the driver away from the man beating him, the report said. The man in the cape responded by hitting Elvis three times in the face, the report said.

That’s when Marie Antoinette, dressed in a white wig and red dress, started hitting the taxi driver, possibly with a purse, witnesses told police.

Police charged the man in the cape with assault.
