Polis to hold events in Eagle, Summit counties

EAGLE COUNTY — Rep. Jared Polis , who represents the eastern portion of Eagle County, will host two town halls in Summit and Eagle counties Wednesday.
Here’s Polis’ schedule for the day:
• 11-11:45 a.m.: Tour of Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, 300 Snowy Ridge Road (Base of Peak 9).
• 12:30-2 p.m.: Summit County town hall, Breckenridge Grand Vacation Community Center and Summit County South Branch Library, 103 S. Harris St.
• 5-6:30 p.m.: Vail town hall.

Earlier this year, Polis, a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, introduced the Continental Divide Wilderness and Recreation Act, a bill to preserve 58,000 acres of wilderness and recreation lands in Summit and Eagle counties. He also hosted the top Democrat on the Natural Resources Committee to see the proposed areas first-hand. The bill was crafted with input from dozens of local groups, including The Wilderness Society, Vail Resorts, the Outdoor Industry Association, the International Mountain Biking Association, Conservation Colorado, and affected municipalities, businesses, and water districts.
