Polls open today in Eagle County, Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado Starting this morning, registered voters statewide can cast ballots at early voting sites. Some polling places open as early as 7 a.m. but many will operate from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There aren’t as many locations as on Election Day, so contact your county clerk for the details.For information for Eagle County elections, go to: http://www.eaglecounty.us/Clerk/general2006.cfmEarly voting will take place all this week and many counties also will open polling sites this Saturday, Oct. 25. Voting continues next week, from Monday through Friday, which is Halloween.County clerks encourage voters to cast their ballots during the first week of early voting, when lines are expected to be shorter. They also recommend that voters avoid going to the polling sites on Halloween, when they anticipate a last-minute rush and delays.Voters don’t have to find their neighborhood polling place. By law, early voting sites are set up as vote centers – which are open to all voters in the county. Most counties only offer electronic voting terminals during early voting. The notable exception is in Denver, where poll workers will provide paper ballots that are tailored to each voter’s address and precinct. Denver will also provide electronic voting terminals for the disabled or anyone who requests to vote that way.Mail voting also continues over the next two weeks.
