Polls open today in valley
Voters today will fill seats on the valley’s two major rec boards, as well as choose three new residents to manage the upvalley ambulance service. In Vail, property owners will get to decide how to pay for improvements to the town’s water system – property tax increase or higher water bills.
Up in Beaver Creek, homeowners will vote whether to allow its metro board to spend surplus bond money on road repairs. Three candidates are also vying for two seats on the board.
The candidates and polling locations are below.
Vail Recreation District
Polls: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Vail Town Hall
At issue: A proposed property tax increase to pay off Dobson Arena construction debt and two seats on the five-member board.

Polls: 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., town of Vail offices, 75 S. Frontage Road; Town of Minturn offices, 302 Pine Street; Eagle-Vail Metropolitan District offices at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion; and the Eagle County Ambulance District headquarters at 1065 Edwards Village Blvd. in Edwards.
At issue: Vail voters will be voting on the tax- or rate-increase question and to fill the seat representing Avon on the water and sanitation district’s board of directors. Voters elsewhere in the water district will just be voting to fill the board seat. There are four polling places that will be open from

At issue: Board seeking approval to spend surplus from maintenance yard bond on road repairs; board seeking approval enter into multiple-year contracts for vehicle maintenance (with town of Avon) and fire protection (with Eagle River fire district); and two seats on metro board.
