‘Pop Goes the Rock’ comes to Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek – The spring break family series at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek kicks off Tuesday with Cirque Dreams’ newest stage production, “Pop Goes The Rock.””Pop Goes The Rock” is a one-of a kind Cirque show that unites generations through a mash-up of celebrated pop and rock tunes. Audiences can expect to see daring aerialists, gravity defying balancers, powerful strongmen and an array of edgy awe-inspiring acts accompanied by a hip dance crew, cool singers and a live rock band performing more than 20-chart topping hits on stage. The songs for “Pop Goes The Rock” are presented and performed live through special arrangements with Sony ATV/Music Publishing and accompany over 14 variety acts, more than 100 costumed characters, elaborate lighting, special effects and more. Song titles include “King of the Road,” “Beautiful,” “Zoot Suit Riot,” “The Heat is On,” “In the Summertime,” “Let it Ride,” “Apologize,” “No More Mister Nice Guy,” “Never Gonna Let you Go” “Like a Prayer,” “Right ‘Round,” “Jump (For My Love),” “Rapper’s Delight,” “I Love the Nightlife” and more. “Cirque Dreams 2012 World Tour” for Armed Forces Entertainment recently launched from Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii to entertain U.S. service members and their families in 17 military bases throughout 10 countries. The spring break family series, which includes Stunt Dog Experience on Friday, National Dance Company of Ireland presents “Rhythm of the Dance” on Sunday, Spencers “Theatre of Illusion onMonday, Straight No Chaser on March 27 and Acrobats of Cirquetacular on April 5.Tickets for Cirque Dreams “Pop Goes the Rock” at the VPAC are $55 for children and $85 for adults.
