Premier Impressions program keeps growing

The 2006-07 season of Premier Impressions, the townwide customer-service awards program, will end March 31, and the Vail Chamber & Business Association couldnt be more pleased with this seasons success.From December to the present, we received more than 300 nomination forms, and while we would like to honor each and every one, we will honor approximately 80 excellent Vail employees for their outstanding efforts. The chamber is particularly pleased with the content of this seasons nominations. Each year, the excellent customer-service stories we read improve immensely, and this season we received some of the most impressive nominations in the six years of the program. One guest nominated an employee for his help and courage when she had a seizure on the mountain. Another nominated employee brought his own recliner to the hotel where he works for a guest who had just had surgery and could not sleep in a flat position. Still another drove a group of eight diners home (in two trips!) from the restaurant where she works when a snowstorm tied up the towns taxis. Employees were nominated for helping customers save money, providing an excellent ski lesson, solving nearly insurmountable problems with lost luggage and stolen skis, or providing comfort and care in problematic situations. Not only were these nominations a pleasure to read, but we are privileged to be able to give these employees some well-deserved recognition.The Premier Impressions program began as a joint project among the chamber, Vail Resorts, and the town of Vail. The program was a response to a survey of Vail employees that showed that the majority of those employees felt underappreciated. The program began to improve morale and increase incentives to provide excellent customer service. Since that beginning, Premier Impressions has grown in popularity, and we look forward to expanding it in the near future. The chamber also enjoys working with the town and the resort company for such a worthy program. Nomination forms are distributed to merchants throughout Vail who agree to display them, and that number grows each year as the reputation of Premier Impressions builds. Forms also are available twice weekly in the Vail Daily for the duration of the season. In coming years, we would like to see the forms in every Vail business and receive nominations from an even wider array of businesses. This season is again culminating with a celebration for the top nominees at Billys Island Grill from 4-6 p.m. April 9. To complement the outstanding nominations, the party will yield an impressive number of gifts and awards. Of course, the traditional favorites will be offered: the merchant-ski-pass drawing, a trip for two to Mexico, and the large grand prize of $5,000 cash. There will also be several other opportunities to win prizes from local businesses. Additionally, employers who have had employees nominated are invited and will have the chance to win a merchant ski pass. Nominees may bring a guest, though only nominees will be eligible to win prizes. The chambers board of directors would like to thank everyone who participated in this years program.
