Jakob Methvin scored a second-half penalty-kick goal to push Battle Mountain past Steamboat Springs 2-1 Friday night in Edwards. Charlie Strauch scored the other goal for the Huskies on an assist from Leo Martinez.

Battle Mountain improved to 6-1 on the season with the win and is tied with Steamboat Springs at 3-1 in league play. The Huskies travel to Summit on Tuesday night.

Football notes: Conifer takes down Eagle Valley

Five different Lobos scored touchdowns to help Conifer get past Eagle Valley 37-6 on Friday night in Gypsum. Grady Forsythe got things going early in the first quarter with a 40-yard touchdown scamper, which was followed by a 16-yard score from quarterback Wyatt Nichols. Running back Carson Payer’s 2-yard touchdown with 1:07 remaining had the Lobos up 23-0 at halftime.



Eagle Valley got on the board with 7:02 remaining in the game on a 50-yard run by Keaden Lake. The Devils (1-3) head to Niwot (2-1) next Friday.

Volleyball notes: Saints defeat Grand Valley for fourth-straight win

Vail Christian volleyball swept Grand Valley 28-26, 25-18, 25-22 in Edwards Friday night for the team’s fourth-straight win. The Saints (5-2 overall, 3-0 league) head up I-70 to face Vail Mountain next Tuesday. The Gore Rangers are coming off a 3-0 loss to Plateau Valley on Friday.
