President Fords home added to Vail Mountain School tour
BEAVER CREEK Vail Mountain School announced Thursday that former President Gerald Fords Beaver Creek ski retreat will be part of the schools annual home tour, slated for Sept. 21.Adding the ski home of President and Mrs. Ford to our home tour is truly a thrill, said Vail Mountain School Director of Development Nancy Young. Their contributions to the valley, the country and the world are many, and we are honored to showcase their lovely home in our 37th annual tour. We hope many people will take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk through a former presidents home. The home, which the Fords sold in 2006, is on the market for $14.9 million. Current owner Kevin Haynes bought the property from the Fords and spent nearly $4 million renovating the 10,000-square-foot home. Its the only former presidents home for sale in the country. A 37-year tradition in the valley, the VMS Home Tour benefits the schools financial-aid program. This years tour will take place Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature seven homes in Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch, a luncheon at SaddleRidge Restaurant, a gourmet bake sale and a raffle. More than 300 VMS volunteers (parents, teachers, students and friends of the school) will be on hand at the event to usher approximately 1,000 visitors through the homes.Tickets for the tour are $45 in advance and $50 on the day of the tour.
