Primary election to be conducted by mail
May 11, 2012
EAGLE, Colorado – Eagle County’s primary election will take place on June 26 and will be conducted as a mail ballot election. Voters affiliated with the Democratic, Republican, American Constitution or Libertarian parties will be mailed their party’s ballot between June 4 and June 8. The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation for the primary is May 25. Unaffiliated voters can affiliate with any participating party at any time up to and including Election Day.
While some of this year’s primary ballots have no contested races, election law requires that if any major party’s ballot has a contested race, all major party ballots must be prepared and an election conducted.
Election services specific to the primary, including new and replacement ballots, voting booths, disabled voting machine access and ballot drop boxes will be available at all three Clerk and Recorder offices in Avon at 100 W. Beaver Creek Blvd., Eagle at 500 Broadway and El Jebel at 20 Eagle County Road. Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday starting in the first part of June, as well as from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23 and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 26.
Sample ballots are available online at http://www.eaglecounty.us/clerk under “upcoming elections” and will be published in local newspapers at the end of May.
