Private firm to monitor Dillon Dam
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colorado ” Denver Water recently hired a local private security company to patrol its facilities at Dillon Reservoir around the Dillon Dam Road.
After talking with local law enforcement officials, Denver Water made the decision to outsource security details to reduce some of the patrol burden on local law enforcement agencies.
“There will now be a 24/7 security presence on the dam, which will alleiviate the burden on both law enforcemet and the caretakers,” said Craig Austin, manager of safety and security at Denver Water.
A number of closures last winter, including one lasting nearly two weeks, forced commuters onto the interstate or Swan Mountain Road.
