Eagle, CO Colorado
EAGLE, Colorado ” It was a case of all’s well that ends well at the Dusty Boot Days last weekend in Eagle, Colorado
On May 15 at approximately 5:15 p.m., a special New Belgium Fat Tire bike, destined to be a raffle prize for the celebratory event, was stolen from the Eagle Ranch Village establishment.
The very unique bike, which isn’t sold in stores, is a red Schwinn beach cruiser. Shortly after the theft, Eagle police issued a community e-mail advisory, describing the bike in detail and urging residents to look out for it. The alert noted the bike was scheduled to be raffled off to benefit a local charity.
Within a few hours, the bike was anonymously returned.
“The Eagle Police Department, believes that it was the involvement of the community that put pressure on the person(s) that took the bike,” read a second e-mail alert.
The bike was returned to the Dusty Boot in time for the raffle. Eagle resident Kelley Bontempo won the bike and the raffle raised $523 for the One Eagle group.
