Public Safety Council to present awards
EAGLE – Seven people will be presented meritorious service awards for their efforts on behalf of Eagle County’s Public Safety Council. The awards presentation will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday at the Western Eagle County Ambulance District office in Eagle. The Public Safety Council is a collaborative effort among all of the public safety agencies in Eagle County. Its mission is to coordinate public safety efforts and discuss common issues on behalf of all of Eagle County’s residents, merchants and guests. The winners are: • Paul DeJulio: A Colorado Department of Transportation supervisor who supported council’s efforts while he was stationed in Eagle County. He was involved in several of the council’s projects. • Cathy McCrory: Organized Camp 911, which was introduced Avon and has spread downvalley.• Sally Ann Bluhm: Leads the councils prevention subcommittee, and has worked on car seat safety initiatives, driving tips for teens, the back-to-school safety and health fair, Cinco de Mayo and the Skier Safety Alliance.• Tom Kelly: Former director of the Western Eagle County Ambulance District.• David Wineman: An Avon police officer who has worked on car seat safety, teen driving, the back-to-school safety and health fair, Cinco de Mayo and the Skier Safety Alliance.• Dennis Gibbons: A Colorado state troop who developed crash scene story board program. • Cindy Hassig: Recently retired from the Colorado State Patrol after 30 years, she was on the Public Safety Council for several years.
