Pueblo agrees to pipeline to Colorado Springs

PUEBLO, Colo. ” A new $1.1 billion water pipeline from Pueblo Reservoir is closer to approval.

Pueblo County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to issue a permit to Colorado Springs Utilities for the pipeline. The line would move water from southern Colorado to El Paso County.

The permit requires construction to being within three years. The utility has agreed to millions worth of upgrades to protect Fountain Creek and update wastewater treatment plants to address concerns Pueblo had about the pipeline.

The utility still must acquire more permits before pipeline construction begins.
