Pueblo school reports flu outbreak

PUEBLO, Colo. – A charter school in Pueblo is kicking off the school year with a flu scare.

Pueblo School for the Arts and Sciences says 72 pupils have been identified with flulike symptoms. Forty-seven didn’t show up for the first day of school on Tuesday. Another 25 were sent home with fevers, headaches and stomach aches.

The school teaches preschool through eighth grade.

An official with Pueblo City Schools says two nurses have been sent to the charter school and that the other schools have been asked to report the number of illness-related absences to track a possible outbreak of the H1N1 virus.
