Special to the DailyYoga instructor Julia Clarke will hold a candlelit Bhava Vinyasa yoga workshop in Vail Saturday.

VAIL, Colorado -Offset the stress of the holiday season and cultivate a deeper understanding of Tantric yoga philosophy with Julia Clarke Saturday at the Vail Athletic Club. Clarke is holding a candlelit Bhava Vinyasa yoga workshop from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., introducing a practice that starts out with a flow sequence, then engages the student in Anjali restorative yoga, a series of reclining poses with guided imagery and meditations, for the second half. The word “Bhava” means “healing” in Sanskrit, and while the first half of the practice will involve dynamic movement, Clarke said that too is part of the healing modality.”Every step of this practice is intended to cultivate healing and peace,” she said. “Bhava Vinyasa answers both the call to move, and the call the rest. The aligned movement of the flow sequence is designed to return our natural strength and confidence, we’ll be engaging in conscious breath work to remind us of our own ability to self-participate, and the deep, deserved relaxation of Anjali Restorative Yoga can dissolve a lifetime of tension as it engages the body’s natural ability to heal.”Clarke will incorporate the wisdom and texts of Tantric Yoga, a philosophy dating back more than 1,500 years that forms the basis of many modern yoga practices including Bhava Vinyasa.”Tantric Philosophy is deeply connected to this style of yoga, since it fundamentally views the body as a powerful experience to be considered and nurtured. This is a practice designed to engage our five senses and get deeper into our own physical experience so we can open ourselves up to the joys of holidays, and diminish the stresses.”Radiant Yoga is an all-levels workshop. The cost is $25 for guests, and $20 for members. The Yoga Studio at the Vail Athletic Club is located within the Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa, at 352 East Meadow Drive.
