Rain, snow in Vail’s forecast for weekend
VAIL — Forecasters are calling for rain in the Vail Valley this weekend, with possibly a couple of inches of snow at high elevations.
Joel Gratz of opensnow.com says the slow-moving storm could drop several inches above 10,000 feet in the central and northern mountains from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.
Gratz said the southern mountains will get more; 3-6 inches, with possibly up to 10 inches.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon.
Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.
Saturday: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.
Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48.
Facing traffic woes and oncoming growth, officials are looking at road improvements.
