EAGLE — Let’s face it, there aren’t many dress-up occasions in Eagle.

But what the town lacks in formality it more than makes up for with philanthropy. This Friday, the organizers of Project Realway hope to combine those community characteristics for a fashionably fun event to benefit families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

Project Realway is the brain child of Mary Clare Silva, owner-operator of First Chair Creative, and Delphine Gennisson, Parisian U personal styling and shopping.

“Last summer, Delphine came over for coffee to chat about an idea. She wanted to do something fashionable in Eagle, something to share all that Parisian U is about, something that would inspire us and show us how to feel good in our own skin, something fabulous and fun,” Silva said.

While the two women were enthused by the idea of hosting a fashion-centered event, they also wanted to party with a purpose.

“We discussed the importance of benefiting a worthy organization — something to help our neighbors, friends and Eagle families and something that connected with this vision that we had for the women of our area who needed inspiration or a way out,” Silva said. “An empowering, yet attainable, fashion show of real women in real clothes for Bright Future Foundation became our concept.”

Silva noted that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Bright Future Foundation provides many valuable services to the community, including the prevention of and intervention in domestic violence and sexual assault.

“Project Realway will feature accents of purple (the color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month), and we’ll even have a beautiful Dee Ocleppo purple purse on auction at the event,” she said.

Finding fabulous

While its mission is to help families in need, Project Realway also promises to be a really good time. Silva said the idea is to hold a fabulously styled event with a reasonable ticket price. After all, reasonably priced fabulousness is what Parisian U is all about.

Silva said that, through her business, Gennisson works with clients to first clean out their closets and then build an attainable but fashionable wardrobe that isn’t anchored with yoga pants and sneakers.

“Delphine ends up saving her clients lots of money,” Silva said.

The models at Project Realway will be local woman attired in clothing from local boutiques. Silva said various retailers from throughout the valley have stepped up to support the event. Likewise Red Maple Catering, 808 Distillery, Bonfire Brewing and Mountain Flour will be providing food and libations. A $50 general-admission ticket includes one drink, food, fashion show, DJ and dancing, dessert, cash bar and silent auction. VIP (Very Inspirational Philanthropists) tickets include all of that plus an additional drink, coat check service, front-row seats and a gift bag.

“We wanted this evening to be a great date night or a ladies’ night out,” Silva said. “You could easily spend the same amount on a casual night out to dinner and a drink — with Project Realway, you get so much more and you get to help out our community.”

As for attire and attendance, Silva said this is the time to dress up and hire a babysitter.

“This is a 21-and-older event. Sometimes it’s good for parents to get away for an evening,” Silva said. “Project Realway will be slightly fancy. We all own an old cocktail dress to wear, and everyone is invited.”
