Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado –Affordable piano lessons will soon hit a high note in the Vail Valley.

The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and the Vail Recreation District are teaming up to offer semi-private piano lessons as an affordable, after-school alternative. The program will be offered at Red Sandstone Elementary on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and at Edwards Elementary on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. beginning November 10.

The cost for the six-week program is $10. The low cost is possible due to both Bravo! and the Vail Recreation District’s commitment to arts education. The program is for beginner piano students. To sign up contact the Vail Recreation District at 970-479-2292.

During the program, students will be taught listening skills, finger coordination, the topography of the keyboard and the musical staff. At the end of the six weeks students will be able to play simple holiday melodies, perform in a group using simple notation. Both Bravo! and the Rec district hope the students will develop an enthusiasm for music and a desire to further learn keyboard skills.

Each program will be taught by a dedicated piano instructor under the direction of Lynne Chapin, a longtime valley pianist and instructor.
