‘Record Store Day’ comes to Vail
Vail CO, Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” Today hundreds of independently-owned music stores across the country will celebrate “Record Store Day.”
On this day, all of these stores will simultaneously link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and on a national scale.
Eagle Valley Music in Vail is the only local shop participating in the nation-wide event and owner Tom Robbins is excited to be part of it.
Customers will receive a goodie bag with their purchase that promotes new formats, new releases, and information on music, theatrical and gaming releases.
“There’s probably … close to 20 different sampler CDs and DVDs,” Robbins said. Among the give-aways will also be vinyl LPs, comic books, and magazines.
“I personally think that the coolest piece that we have is that Sony Record Store Day LP sampler,” Robbins said. The sampler is given away with the purchase of any Sony vinyl album and includes songs by Sony artists like Bruce Springsteen, Run DMC and John Mayer.
Record Store Day is designed to promote local independent music stores by putting them in the spotlight and allowing them to sell or give away products exclusively for the day.
“It’s just a way of various independent coalitions starting something up and giving something back to the people who support indie retail,” Robbins said.
