Red Cliff Board of Trustees flip coin for terms

RED CLIFF — After tying earlier this month with 31 votes apiece, a coin flip decided Amelia Neat will serve the four-year term and Jake Spears will serve the two-year term on the Board of Trustees.

Former Mayor Scott Burgess flipped a silver dollar at Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting, and Neat chose heads and won the four-year term.

Lorenzo Sandoval and Valarie Blevins each were elected to four-year terms during the election earlier this month. Anuschka Bales ran unopposed to become the mayor of Red Cliff.

Spears has lived in Red Cliff for 35 years and first served on the Board of Trustees in 2012.

“The past four years have proven that Red Cliff can control its destiny by fiscal responsibility and creativity,” Spears said in a questionnaire before the election. “We need to decide the direction we’re going.”

The Board of Trustees is faced with continuing the work to bring Internet service to Red Cliff as well as working to upgrade infrastructure and services.
