Red Cliff in line for federal funds
RED CLIFF, Colorado “-Red Cliff could get $800,000 in federal funds to help fix its faulty wastewater treatment system, Sen. Michael Bennet said Wednesday.
The money is included in the Omnibus spending bill President Obama was expected to sign Wednesday.
Currently, Red Cliff is regularly exceeding the capacity of its current sewer and water treatment facility and has been repeatedly been cited by the state of Colorado for discharges into the Eagle River.-
Given expected growth in Red Cliff, and the need to protect the downstream water for major, growing cities in Eagle County as well as recreational activities on the river such as fishing and water rafting and kayaking, it is vital to upgrade the existing plant, Bennet said.-
