Red Cliff restaurant can house medical marijuana sales
RED CLIFF, Colorado – Red Cliff’s iconic restaurant in Colorado’s Vail Valley could soon house the town’s first medical marijuana dispensary.Town officials on Monday gave Mango’s owner Eric Cregon permission to open a dispensary on the bar’s second floor.Officials attached several conditions to opening the M-Bar dispensary. For example, no once can sell or drink alcohol inside the premises.Originally, Cregon had wanted to bake foods with medical marijuana inside the restaurant kitchen. He wanted to produce a high-end ice cream to sell to other dispensaries. After consulting with county officials, though, he concluded that using his kitchen to bake with marijuana could put his restaurant license at risk.”We will not jeopardize that,” he said.Cregon hopes to open the dispensary around Feb. 1.Town Trustee Dan Wallace said he stands by Cregon’s good reputation as a businessman in town.”We’re kind of taking a big risk here, so I hope you acknowledge that and operate a sound business there and do a good job for the town of Red Cliff,” he said.”I will,” Cregon promised.Staff Writer Sarah Mausolf can be reached at 970-748-2928 or email@example.com.
