Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – Eagle County Schools has announced that Dr. Katherine Lange has been named the principal of Red Sandstone Elementary School.

For the past 19 years, Lange has worn many different hats in the world of education. Most recently, she has assumed the role of assistant principal at Brush Creek Elementary School.

Previous to this role, Lange was an ESL instructor at Colorado Mountain College; a special education teacher, assistant principal and principal at Stone Creek Charter School; a special education teacher at Cascade Middle School in Bend, Ore., and at Kealakehe High School in Kailua Kona, Hawaii; an adjunct professor for the Department of Education at Adams State College; and a department head of special education for Battle Mountain High School.

Lange received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Georgia Southern University, a master’s degree in Special Education from West Georgia College and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Colorado State University.

“Kat is an extremely valued member of our school community,” said Anne Heckman, principal of Brush Creek Elementary School. “With her background and expertise in the area of differentiation, Kat has worked with all of us to deepen our understanding, and adapt our instruction, for the diverse learners we serve. Brush Creek will experience a great loss with Kat’s departure, but I am excited for the Red Sandstone community to inherit such a talented, well-respected, hard-working individual.”

Aug. 1 is the official start date for Katherine Lange.
