Red sky ranch sales tax
WOLCOTT — Unanimous votes are hard to come by just about anywhere. But that’s what voters in the Red Sky Ranch neighborhood north of Wolcott did in a Tuesday, Nov. 7, election.
By a tally of 23-0, voters in the neighborhood agreed to impose a sales tax of up to 5.5 percent, with the goal of raising about $100,000 in the first year. That money, raised primarily from sales at the Red Sky Ranch golf course, will be dedicated to road repairs.
About 40 ballots were sent out in the mail-ballot election.
Gov. Jared Polis has lauded Summit County’s health care purchasing collaborative as a “transformative” step toward lowering the cost of health care. Officials in Eagle County are now hoping they can adopt a similar model for residents here.
