Reel Rock Film Tour visits Minturn
MINTURN — The Reel Rock Film Tour will make its first-ever stop in Minturn today and Thursday, hosted by the town of Minturn and held at the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy.
The Reel Rock Tour, now in its 11th year, is a compilation of cutting-edge climbing films, featuring a broad range of athletes and climbing styles. The five short films features a range of excitement and amazing visuals, from the strongest youth climbers pushing themselves on some of the hardest sport routes in Norway, free solo climbing in Yosemite, to exploring Arctic big walls and fatherhood.
The film tour is generously sponsored by the town of Minturn, with all proceeds going to the Live Like Logan Scholarship Fund, a local nonprofit that helps bring youth into rock climbing in the Vail Valley. The fund was established in memory of Logan Jaurnigg, a talented local athlete who passed away pursuing his dreams in 2014. To help raise money for this organization, a $10 donation is suggested, and raffle prizes from Kind Design, Cotopaxi, Boom Movement, Adidas Outdoor and Evolv Climbing will be distributed throughout the event.
Doors open at 7 p.m., with showtime at 7:30 p.m. both evenings.
Today’s showing is for those 21 and older, and the Vail Brewing Company will be present. Thursday’s showing is open to all ages.
Responding to what’s been described as a “crisis” of youth vaping, town officials may soon pass town-specific regulations regarding the purchase of tobacco products.
