Reita Miller, 1915 – 2008
Reita Cameille Miller, 83 of Grand Junction died Monday, Aug 11, at the Atrium.
Reita was born Jan. 25, 1925 in Canton, N.Y., to Warren and Mildred (Ploof) Farmer. She spent her childhood in upstate New York, graduating from high school in Rochester.
On Nov. 20, 1943, Reita married a handsome sailor named C.W. “Bill” Miller. They traveled around following the building boom, living in Rochester, San Antonio, Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz. and several towns in Colorado. They purchased a cattle ranch on Brush Creek in the late 1960s. Bill was mayor of Eagle in the early 1970s.
They retired to Sun City, Ariz. in 1975. Bill died in 1988. Reita spent her remaining days in Grand Junction.
Reita was an accomplished artist. She loved camping, fishing, music and all animals. She had been a dog trainer and professional dog groomer. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Teri Collett and son-in-law Fred, of Eagle; son Curtis Miller, of South Fork, Colo.; two granddaughters; and four great granddaughters.
A memorial service was held on Aug. 21 at Callahan Edfast in Grand Junction. Contributions may be made in her memory to Rocky Mountain Horse Rescue, 9190 Alkire St., Arvada, Colo. 80005.
