Remains found in Haiti confirmed to be Colo. man
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Compassion International says the State Department has confirmed that a body found in rubble from the earthquake in Haiti is that of Colorado Springs filmmaker David Hames.
Hames was working for Colorado Springs-based Compassion International when the earthquake hit last month. Agency spokesman Stephan Archer said Wednesday that Hames’ body was found in the lobby of the Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince.
Hames’ colleague Dan Woolley crawled to an elevator shaft as the hotel’s walls collapsed and was rescued after spending 60 hours there.
Archer called Hames an invaluable contractor and said he was loved by many. He is survived by his wife and two children.
