Remains of missing Colo man found in W. Nebraska
KIMBALL, Neb – The remains of a Colorado man missing since 2003 have been found in western Nebraska, and a former roommate suspected in his death is in custody.
Ryan Guitron of Fort Collins, Colo., was 30 when he was reported missing.
Authorities in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska said Monday that 38-year-old Vencil Leo Ash III was taken into custody last week after a disturbance in Cheyenne, Wyo. Police found a rifle in Ash’s home. He’s charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Investigators say they received a tip that Ash took Guitron to an abandoned farmstead in southwest Kimball County in September 2003, shot him and buried him in a woodpile.
Human remains, identified as Guitron’s, were found in the woodpile last week.
Ash has not been charged in Guitron’s death.
