Reminder: Renew your dog license

Daily Staff Report

Eagle County residents are reminded that all 2005 dog licenses have expired and that these must be renewed annually. Yearly licensing helps Animal Services monitor and ensure that pets remain up to date on rabies vaccinations but it also dramatically increases the chances of reuniting a pet with an owner if a pet becomes lost. The licensing fee is $10 for spayed or neutered dogs and $20 for non-spayed and nonneutered dogs. For your convenience, 2006 licenses can be purchased either by mail or in person. If by mail, send your renewal card or license application along with proof of current rabies vaccination for the animal to Eagle County Animal Services, P.O. Box 57, Eagle, CO 81631 or in person at one of the following locations: Eagle County Clerk & Recorder (0020 Eagle County Dr., El Jebel, CO 81623) Eagle County Animal Services (1400 Fairgrounds Road, Eagle, CO 81631) Eagle County Treasurers office (500 Broadway, Eagle, CO 81631) In Avon at the County Annex (100 W. Beaver Creek Blvd) Steves Dog and Cat Repair clients only (Edwards Village Center) If you did not receive your renewal card in the mail please contact the Eagle County Animal Shelter at 328-3647. Residents who do not have a 2005 license can download an application from Eagle Countys website, http://www.eaglecounty.us or pick one up at the Eagle County Animal Shelter. The fine for an unlicensed dog will vary from $40-$100, depending on where you live. Animal Services officers will be watching for 2006 licenses this year. It is very important for the protection of public health and the health of your animals that all dogs be current on their rabies vaccinations especially with the rapid increase in the number of pets in our area. For additional information contact Eagle County Animal Services at (970) 328-3647. Vail Colorado
