Renovation work to start on Riverview apartments in Eagle-Vail
EAGLE, Colorado – Eagle County officials Tuesday signed the final paperwork on a refinancing deal for the Riverview Apartments in Eagle-Vail. The deal will fund a six-month, $6 million renovation project at the apartments. Riverview is the only apartment complex in the valley that meets the “Section 8″ requirements of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. That means the apartments are rented based on income, with people earning less income paying less rent.Local construction company R.A. Nelson & Associates is the general contractor on the job. While the apartments are closed, tenants will be moved to several other apartment complexes, most of which are used for Vail Resorts’ seasonal employees.”We’re very excited – it’s a great project,” Managing Director of the Eagle County Housing and Development Department Alex Potente said. “It’s going to employ a lot of people for the next six months.”Beyond the local jobs, Potente said the project will improve the complex’s efficiency and its appearance. And, he added, the work now will give the apartments another 25 to 30 years of useful life.Business Editor Scott N. Miller can be reached at 970-748-2930 or smiller@vaildaily.com.
