Repairs to eastbound lanes through Glenwood Canyon cause delays
GLENWOOD CANYON ” CDOT maintenance crews have closed the right (outside) lane of eastbound I-70 at mile marker 121.3 (about 4 miles west of Hanging Lake Tunnel).
A bridge expansion joint is in need of repair and there will be some stop and go traffic this afternoon while crews place steel plates across the inside lane to prepare it for vehicle travel over the weekend.
The right travel lane, however, will remain closed 24 hours a day through the weekend (and into next week during work). Crews will also inspect other expansion joints in this area to determine if more repairs are necessary.
Next week, crews will work to repair the expansion joint/s and eastbound travel will be impacted during the day and night. Further details of traffic impacts and project duration will be provided early next week.
