Republicans nominate Schaffer to run for Senate
BROOMFIELD ” Republicans have nominated former congressman Bob Schaffer to run for Colorado’s open U.S. Senate seat, saying he has the experience to beat Democratic Party candidate Mark Udall in November.
Republicans believe they can hold onto the seat after losses that included a U.S. Senate seat, a congressional seat, control of the state House, the state Senate and the governor’s office over the past four years.
Schaffer was nominated during Saturday’s state GOP convention in Broomfield.
Schaffer and Udall are vying to replace Republican Sen. Wayne Allard, who is retiring.
